Coronavirus presents with flu-like symptoms including fever, a cough or difficulty breathing or loss of or change in your normal sense of taste or smell (known as anosmia). Current evidence is that most cases appear to be mild and the vast majority of people make a full recovery.

Staff on inpatient wards needing an ambulance should continue to follow the existing process by calling the following numbers:

Switchboard will ask the caller 'Does this call relate to a patient with suspected or confirmed Covid-19'. If it does, the switchboard operator will put the caller through to 0345 140 0144.
