It is the responsibility of all Trust staff to safeguard the interests of children and vulnerable adults. This responsibility starts with the recruitment process. It is imperative that all Recruiting Managers utilise comprehensive processes to reduce the risk of unsuitable staff joining the Trust.
Safer Recruitment encompasses a range of best practice processes and techniques designed to discourage, identify and reject people who may abuse children or vulnerable adults; or that may be unsuitable to work with these groups. Safer Recruitment is about acknowledging that ‘it could happen here’ and ensuring that robust safeguarding is promoted at all stages of the recruitment process.
For further information Recruiting Managers can access the Safer Recruitment Guidance below. The one day Values and Behavioural Based Interviewing Course also includes a section on Safer Recruitment.
