Due to severe cold weather hitting the UK, the Met Office have issued a Level two alert. There is a 70per cent probability of severe cold weather/icy conditions/heavy snow between 12am on Thursday 21 January and 9am on Monday 25 January in North West England.

The Met Office have warned Snow on Thursday morning leading into a spell of increasingly cold temperatures for the remainder of the period with frost and ice probable. Wintry showers possible over the weekend.
