During the recent cold spell a number of staff have been bringing into work or are using existing electric portable fan heaters to supplement heating in their working environment.  In a recent incident at one of our buildings a fan heater was left on overnight resulting in the plug top from the fan heater melting into the plug socket and tripping the electrical power. If the power had failed to trip we could have been looking at a total loss of the building due to fire.

All staff -  All portable electrical fan heaters must not be used unless approved by the Estates Team. Contact Estates and Facilities Team for further information by email:FM.helpdesk@nwbh.nhs.uk.

All team managers -  must ensure that any heaters used to supplement the temperature in a working environment are approved by the Estates and Facilities Team. If the building you work in is cold or not reaching temperature, please contact the Estates and Facilities Team by email: FM.helpdesk@nwbh.nhs.uk.
