In this section you will find information relating to the following: 

Year 4 students are offered 8 placement blocks of four weeks each, across all areas of the Trust in in-patient wards and community settings.  They receive a comprehensive induction and teaching on the topics below.

Year 5 UCLan students are offered 6 placement blocks of two weeks each, in various clinical settings, primarily across Atherleigh Park and Wigan Borough.  Students are placed in various psychiatric sub specialities.  Focus of placements is on enhancing their existing experience, gained in Year 3 and 4, in treatment and management of psychiatric disorders in in-patient and community patients.  Year 5 students also shadow junior on call doctors out of hours, gaining core capabilities to help transition into post graduate doctors.  Students receive supervision during placement and their clinical knowledge is further strengthened by high quality teaching sessions.

There is a comprehensive induction at the start of their placement and at the end there is a sign off meeting with the Module Lead.
