At our Trust some of our staff have already had workplace mediation. Following the successful resolution of over 90% of our cases we are delighted to be able to roll the service out across the Trust.

Our mediation service comprises of nine fully qualified mediators who can work across any area of the organisation.

Workplace mediation is an alternative way of resolving disputes. The mediator acts as an intermediary, facilitating conversation between parties to find a mutual resolution. Mediation normally takes place when informal discussions within the team have been unable to come up with a solution as it can help find a timely solution to an issue without the need for a formal process, empowering participants to find their own way forward.

Unlike other workplace dispute resolution, mediation offers the parties the opportunity to repair or rebuild relationships that have broken down or become difficult. All mediation is voluntary and we encourage all parties to attend our mediation service in good faith. We take away the me versus you attitude and encourage collaboration in order to find an agreement that is acceptable for all parties.

We have put together a number of materials which explain the process and support you either as you preparing to engage in mediation as a participant, or a manager considering making a referral to our mediation service.

The main document "The Workplace Guide to Mediation" explains mediation and it's role in transforming and resolving workplace conflicts, disputes and disagreements. It also explains what mediation is, the role the mediators and the process and philosophy of mediation.
