Our vaccination centre is based at the Gail Briers Education Centre, Hollins Park House, Hollins Lane, Winwick, Warrington, WA2 8WA.

Who is eligible

Appointments can now be booked for anyone within one of the top six priority groups as identified by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI):

  1. Residents in a care home for older adults and their carers
  2. Those 80 years of age and over / frontline health and social care workers
  3. Those 75 years of age and over
  4. Those 70 years of age and over / clinically extremely vulnerable (shielding) individuals aged 16* and over
  5. Those 65 years of age and over
  6. Those aged 16* to 65 in an at-risk group
  7. Those 60 years of age and over
  8. Those 55 years of age and over

* Please note, while the JCVI includes those aged 16 and over in group six, the AstraZeneca vaccine is only approved for adults aged 18 and over. We are not able to offer a choice of vaccine, it will depend which one we have on the day of your appointment. Therefore, anyone aged 16 or 17, should contact the vaccine centre on 01925 664176 before booking an appointment.

Demonstrating you meet the priority group criteria

  • Age – your NHS number will confirm your age, so no additional ID is required
  • Health and social care staff – confirmation of your employer and job role, eg your workplace ID badge
  • At-risk groups – examples include medication you take for your condition, a letter from your GP or specialist confirming your diagnosis / treatment plan, or if eligible as an adult carer, confirmation of the condition of the person you care for

Important information ahead of your appointment

  • Appointments must be booked in advance, you cannot just turn up.
  • You will need your NHS number to book (you can get this from the MyGP app, through NHS online, previous appointment letters or from your GP practice – please bear in mind the pressure GP practices are currently under and obtain your number elsewhere if you can). You will also need to take this with you to your appointment.
  • You are booking the first of your two appointments you will need to return between 10 and 12 weeks later for your second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Please bear this in mind when booking.
  • Appointments are available between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday.
  • You should expect the whole process (including pre-checks, paperwork and aftercare) to take between 30 and 45 minutes, even though you are booking a 10-minute slot.
  • The centre has been carefully set up to make sure it is Covid-safe. You will need to wear a surgical face mask during your appointment.
  • You will not be able to take anyone with you to your appointment, including children.
  • If you have any allergies, anxieties, phobias or require other special support during your vaccine appointment, please make the staff at the booking in desk aware when you arrive and you will be supported appropriately.
  • Make sure that it has been at least seven days since any other vaccination you have had, including your flu vaccination.

  • Please use this screening tool to check you are eligible before booking an appointment (you do not need to provide the completed form to anyone, it is purely for your reference so you don’t book an appointment unnecessarily).
  • You will receive a booking confirmation email with further details to make sure your appointment runs smoothly. You must take your confirmation email with you to your appointment.
