Post Francis, there is now greater emphasis on values based selection. That is, assessing candidates ‘fit’ against our NHS values. At a base level, this means exploring candidate’s motivations and drivers for joining us, assessing their behaviours in relation to their real life examples and understanding their attitudes and ethics.

Enhanced interview training and tools have been designed to support our recruiting managers in appointing only those staff that have the right behaviours and values. The ‘right’ candidate will therefore be technically competent, but will also have the right attitudes, behaviours and values.

Values based interview tools/questions are available from the resourcing team.

If you would like support preparing values based interview questions please contact Jenny Richards, Resourcing Manager at jenny.richards@nwbh.nhs.uk

A one day training programme is also available for recruiting managers and staff who will be on interview panels. You can view training dates and book your place via OLM.
