Some of you may be aware the Trust has something called 'charitable funds'. This is money which has been donated to or fundraised for our Trust.
Staff, teams, services and service users are able to apply for money to fund activities, projects or equipment for the benefit of patients and service users.
- Equipment to enhance service users' welfare, eg garden furniture or gardening equipment, TV, music system
- Activities to enhance service users' wellbeing, eg hire of external sports facilities for service users, craft materials, marquee
- Refurbishment of rooms or outside space for service users and staff
- Christmas decorations or gifts and entertainment for service users
Charitable funds cannot be used to top up existing budgets. All requests for funding are reviewed by John McLuckie, Chief Finance Officer, who may seek additional information before deciding whether to approve or reject a request.
In addition to the Trust-wide fund, there are occasions money is donated for use by a specific team, in a specific borough or on a specific ward. It is important the terms set by the donor are respected as far as possible, therefore, charitable funds should only be spent for the purpose they were intended. This is managed by the Finance team.
Nothing should be bought until formal approval has been given by finance.
On occasion, people may approach teams and services to donate to the Trust or send donation cheques in. All donations must be recorded on a receipt form which should be returned to finance as soon as possible.
