Introduction to Microsoft Teams

MS Teams will be taking over from Skype for Business as the Trusts main Video conferencing platform, essentially it is a hub which will enable you and your colleagues to send instant messages, make internal calls, share, edit and collaborate on files and documents in one central, secure location.

Home screen

Screen sharing

Using the option to share desktop, make users aware that you can see all information open on their desktops, this functionality is useful if you are for example want to show right click function i.e. Medway, if sharing power point you can just us share screen option. MS Teams enables you to connect and collaborate with colleagues using chat in real time, hold meetings, catch up on unread messages, @mentions, replies, and more.

Activity

Catch up on all your unread messages, @mentions, replies, and more

Instant messaging (Chat)

Private or group chat (please be aware if you share your desktop that other people can see your chats)

Teams/channels

Teams is where you can see the list of all the teams you are associated to. Teams are made up of channels. You can build them by topic, department.

  • Channels are where the real work gets done.
  • Inside channels you can hold on-the-spot meetings, share posts, and share files.
  • At the top of each channel, you'll find tabs.
  • They're like links to your favourite files, apps, and services.

Calendar

You can see everything you've got lined up for the day or week. Or, schedule a meeting. This calendar syncs with your Outlook calendar.

  • To get to an online meeting select the Join button.

Calls

Is your history log/speed dials and voicemail, you can make calls to other colleagues within the organisation from here

Apps

There is limited access to available apps within MS Team - please note these are limited to your organisation

Files 

All  files shared across teams you are associated to and stored on the cloud – please note they are not saved to your G or H drive.
